“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” - Joshua 1:9
The past week brought the return to many youth and discipleship ministries at Immanuel. 30 youth and leaders went to Camp Wartburg for the yearly 8th grade Confirmation Retreat. The weekend was filled with community time, worship, time in God’s Word and choosing their Confirmation verse. After a lively discussion and dramatic presentations, the class selected the passage above from Joshua 1:9. Wednesday evening Confirmation classes resumed and the Junior Youth gathering of “The Distance” started up again after an 18 month hiatus. High school ministry is looking forward to the 2022 LCMS Youth Gathering in Houston, and are rolling with planning, including the 5K Houston Hustle fundraiser (it’s not too late to sign up!:) Bible study continues weekly for the high school and the Junior high will kick off their Sunday morning Sunday school time on September 19 with Mr. Grant McSwain (sign up on the church website).
While it has been a season of waiting for some parts of ministry, it is pure joy to be reminded in the passage from Joshua, that our God is faithful. He is with us wherever we are and wherever we go. He is with us in all season of life. In times of discouragement, frustration, and not knowing what to do, we know that God is real. God is present. And God IS faithful.
No matter what season you are in, be assured of that great JOY that comes from knowing Jesus. Let the words of encouragement from Joshua resonate with you as you go through your week: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” - Joshua 1:9
What a beautiful reminder of the great love that God has for each and every one of us. He is with us wherever we go. May God bless your day as you live in the confidence that Jesus Loves You!
